Anthony & Cleopatra were the faithful carriage companions of Cecilia Underwood, the1st Duchess of Inverness. The duo were named after her favourite historical romance, as Cecilia believed the classic lovers to have been reincarnated in the inseparable pair.
The hounds were immortalised in porcelain by Royal Crown Derby as a token from the Kennel Master at Balmoral following their deaths in the late 18th Century (exact date unknown).
